Pickling paste or electrolytic cleaning for weld seams on site?

For site-installed 316L pipework, the contractor wants to use pickling paste on weld seams. Is that acceptable, or should we require electrolytic cleaning?

Both work; the difference is control and waste. Paste is harder to rinse fully and leaves residue in crevices, electrolytic is cleaner but needs power and a trained operator. Require a final passivation check (blue-spot or ferroxyl) either way, and specify rinse water quality.
