HS classification for stainless flat products

Stainless flat products are classified by width: 600 mm and above generally falls under HS 7219, below 600 mm under HS 7220. Each heading then splits by hot or cold rolled, thickness, and further processing. Common mistakes: - Declaring slit narrow coil under 7219 when it should be 7220. - Failing to distinguish cold rolled from hot rolled, which changes duty rates and regulatory conditions. - Overlooking that surface treatment such as brushed, mirror or embossed finishes may affect the subheading.
