Coil, sheet or circle: how the ordered form changes landed cost
The same tonne of stainless has three different cost structures depending on the form you buy.
Coil is the lowest unit price, but you carry decoiling, slitting, edge trim and scrap. Cut-to-length sheet is ready to use and adds processing. Circles are near-net shape and minimise scrap for cookware and tank heads, but the circle line is where a mixed order usually loses its margin. Quote each form with its own adder and show the loading plan. Averaging processing costs across a mixed container hides the loss.
